The ideal candidate will be familiar with Entertainment, Corporate and IP Law, advertising technologies, have a passion for simplicity and clarity, and have a strong legal background in contract drafting, negotiation and management.
As a Junior Legal Counsel at Monks, you will provide strategic negotiation, risk assessment and contract drafting support to Monks. This position will collaborate extensively with the company’s legal and business teams based in LATAM teams to develop agreements, drive for efficiencies and contractual protections, and provide overall support for the Legal team globally.
For this role, you will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will report to the Legal Director LATAM.
Responsibilities will include:
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements to support the Film & Content services, Influencer services, and our Data and Digital Media services
- Your primary focus will be on our MSAs, SOW’s and NDAs
- Participate in negotiations for commercial contracts.
- Assist the legal team in developing, maintaining and updating internal contract templates to reflect changes in the company’s business and the legal landscape
- Work with clients and internal teams to lead negotiation of terms to align with company policies and objectives
- Analyze and mitigate potential risks involved with specific contract terms
- Partner commercial counsel and legal operations to create contract policies and commercial strategy to ensure the support of the business as it scales
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external contract-related inquiries
- Support rollout and delivery of internal training on commercial and legal processes and concepts
- Proactively identify new projects and goals needed to improve the legal function and work with legal operations to accomplish them
- Provide guidance and support to the global contracts team
- Stay current on relevant industry, commercial, IP, privacy, employment, and other laws, regulations, and developments to adapt our commercial processes accordingly
- Through the company’s contract management system, assist the legal team and the broader organization of the contract lifecycle process
What you bring to it:
- 2+ years of experience working on commercial transactions
- Fluency in English is a must
- Attention to detail
- Experience in Advertising/Marketing or Digital Law is a huge plus
- Ability to work independently and generally exercise excellent judgment
- Enjoy working with clients and collaborating across internal teams
- A self-starter who has experience developing and implementing new processes
- A demonstrated ability to understand, convey, and negotiate detailed contractual points
- Nice to have familiarity with global companies, international businesses and cultures, and the ability to adapt your approach depending on the particular cultural context.
- Strong organizational and project management skills that allow you to work simultaneously on multiple projects.
- Enthusiasm to work in a team, but also the independence to work with minimal supervision.
- Curiosity and eagerness to stay up to date on the regional legal landscape and our industry and align our goals accordingly
- A positive attitude, ability to roll up your sleeves to get the job done and not sweat the small stuff!
